The ability to speak well, write well and read well and to enjoy reading and writing is one of the most important things to master. Reading is power it has been said. The ability to read means we can learn anything. This is so important in todays fast moving, information rich world.

Assessments

We offer assessments of language and reading ability and establish exactly what your child can do and any areas of weakness. You will be given a written report which records the results.

Fees: The assessment costs £150 and lasts approximately one to two hours.

One to One Coaching

We believe that parents are the best people to teach and encourage their children.

Here at Language Blocks we offer one to one reading coaching for parents and their children together.

We want to remove the mystery surrounding speaking, writing and reading and show you how to help your children achieve success. We believe parental involvement is essential to a child's learning and educational success.

We offer a six, reading coaching session lasting one hour where you the parent are shown how to help your child achieve more success in reading.

What Do We Do?

1. Firstly, we chat to your child and establish how they feel about reading in general, their interests and school life in general, if they are at school. We work with pre school children too. The earlier the better.

2. We chat to you, their parent about how you feel about your child's reading and how you feel it affects them generally

3. We discuss what you hope to improve and achieve from the course.

4. We carry out an assessment of your child's language and reading ability and a whole range of assessment procedures to estabilsh where areas of strength and weakness are.

5. We set targets and devise a program designed around the individual needs of your child which we can work on together for a pre determined time frame.

6. Each course last six weeks and after that time should you wish to continue with us a new set of targets will be designed.

Your child can move to the group sessions after this if they wish.

Fees: Each six week course costs £299 and takes place after school between 5.00 p.m and 8.00 p.m and at weekends.

Reading Groups

We offer small fun reading groups where we work in more of a classroom situation. This is less pressurised and many children feel more comfortable in this enviroment. Your child will need an individual assessment before we place them in a group. An individual reading program is designed for your child and individual help is given throughout the sessions. The sessions take place in six week blocks after school at 4.00-5.00p.m and 5.00-6.00 p.m each weekday.

Fees: The assessment costs £150.00 and lasts approximately one to two hours.

The group sessions then cost £15.00 and are payable six weeks in advance.

Reading Tots

We teach you how to teach your child to read! What a gift to give your child.

These group sessions are fun language and reading activity sessions for parents and tots from birth to age five. We show you how to teach your baby to talk, read and develop language skills through songs, rhymes, stories, games and activites. These sessions take place in the day, weekdays.

 Fees: The sessions are in six week blocks and cost £60 per block.

Individual Consultations

We offer individual consultations where you can discuss any areas of concern you may have over your child's education. The agenda is up to you to set. Ask away!
